Vintage Beatles Albums - What Are They Worth?

Do you love the Beatles?

To this day I remember buying my first Beatles album. I was twelve that year and motivated by peer pressure to start a collection.

I'd seen the Beatles on Ed Sullivan's TV show - my entire family watched both performances, enraptured. I'm so glad I didn't miss those two shows! The introduction of the Beatles to the USA was was definitely a turning point in history.

My father said I could have ONE album, and of course, I wanted them all. It was so hard to make that decision. Would it be Meet the Beatles, Introducing the Beatles, or The Beatles Second Album. That was all that was available.

I chose Introducing the Beatles, took it home, and fell in love with every song they recorded. The Beatles entertained me then. They entertained my children, and now, nearly fifty years later, they entertain us all still.

This page features every album the Beatles released in the United States, plus a few from the UK. If you don't see a Beatles album you're looking for, let me know in the comment section at the bottom of the page.

Anna - One of my favorite songs from that original Beatles album I bought back in 1964.

Please Please Me (1990)
Please Please Me (1990)

This has all the same songs as "Introducing the Beatles". "Please Please Me" was the title of the English release.

Introducing The Beatles - 1963 - Early Beatles singing mostly songs that were written by others.

This was my first Beatles album. I remember standing in the Montgomery Ward store in Richmond California in front of a bin filled with Beatles albums. My father had promised to buy me one, and one only. I didn't know which one to buy! There were a couple different options, but this is what I got - and I loved it. A few of my favorite tunes are Anna, Chains, and Boys. Their songs, I Saw Her Standing There and Please, Please Me, are of course, top-notch.

Yes, in case you're wondering... I was a Beatles fan in the sixties. From the time I heard about them, when I was eleven, I was obsessed. I saw them in 1966 in San Francisco's Cow Palace.

So, what do you think of the Beatles? Your comments are welcome...

I had almost all of the original Beatles albums and a lot of memorabilia. I sold it all to move to a commune. I was in my “non-materialistic stage.” Now I see how much they are worth and sigh. But it was an era and I have fond memories. Love the lens, and thanks for the lensroll. Lensrolling it back to Ex-Hippie’s Thoughts on Music.

Nice! I do love the Beatles. If I recall correctly the 45 RPM records are worth more than a lot of the LPs and some of the 45 sleeves are worth the most. 5 stars

I have a very early copy of the Please Please Me album. Several of the tracks are attribute to Dick James rather than Lennon/McCartney. Awesome stuff! A few of those albums were USA releases only I think. I have heard of them, but they were not available here in Australia at the time. I had a best of box set of 8 records that I bought in about 1980. I ended up selling my entire record collection in about 2000 which I regret doing now as I think that box set is pretty rare. It was an Asian one, Chinese or Japanese, can't remember which. I wish I had kept it!

I'll have a hard time forgiving you for reminding me of all the albums I surrendered when I left my first wife. Or the ones I donated to the local Catholic church after they'd made it onto my computer.

So many of these were like a soundtrack for my life, from All My Loving that closed our teenage dances to Let It Be giving me reassurance as I fumbled my own odd way through early adulthood. Unforgettable.

In one of my novels, I even have my main character singing Nowhere Man to himself in the dark as he goes to meet his girlfriend. Pretty real experience.

I didn't get to experience The Beatles when they were together (I was born in 1975) but their music was a part of my life even before John Lennon was murdered in 1980. My earliest memory of hearing music of The Beatles is while listening to Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds when my dad would play the record. That song really sticks with me and I remember (as a young child) stomping my foot on the living room floor to the four drum beats before the chorus of that song! It's hard for me to believe this, but my dad told me I was two years old when I was doing that!

I loved this. This is the first Lens I've read since signing up, and the topic was exactly what I love. I am a second generation Beatlefreak, and began my life long love affair with the music of the Fab Four when I was 9. I had the most amazing music teacher, Mr. Foss, who spent an entire semester in the 6th grade TEACHING HIS STUDENTS THE BEATLES. He took us through every song, album, and publicity stunt they pulled. By the end of that semester, I was hooked. Flash forward 20 years, and I've been the only person my age that loved the Beatles with such devotion, friends joked but bought me trinkets that involved my passion. When my first child was born, she fell asleep many nights to the sounds of John, Paul, George, and Ringo. All four of my children grew up with the Liverpool Lads as a part of their daily lives. My now 8 year old, Emma, as taken up the craze, and was as excited as any 60's screaming fan when she got a Beatles poster and the Beatles Rock Band for Christmas last year. It makes me so proud when they know a song after the first 2 or 3 notes, or I hear them singing around the house. The movie "Across the Universe" is a family staple, and is watched in my house at least 2 times a week, by my 8 or 5 year old's decree. Rock on Linda, thank you for starting my day off with music and information from my favorite band ever!

I think this lens could benefit from some sort of list of 'valuable' albums; compile a list of know sold items, rarities etc (could use Ebay 'sold items' to compile that, or search the web for this info).

As long as such info is not in the article, the title is somewhat misleading; I still don't know what my albums are worth.

@TechDad: Sorry you didn't get your questions answered. Your albums are worth whatever you can get for them. That's the general rule for all used items. If they're in pristine condition, of course you can expect more for them.

Boy, does this bring back memories. I've loved the Beatles since that first Ed Sullivan show appearance in 1964. I was 7 years old. I never got to see them perform live. I finally got to see Paul McCartney in concert a couple of years ago when my sister took me to see him for my birthday. Wonderful concert. Paul has always been my favorite Beatle. Now there are only two still living, which gives me a lump in my throat. There will never be another group quite like the Beatles. Great lens.

Great lens with a lot of interesting info. Was just watching a rerun of Antiques Roadshow where a woman walked into a store and bought a Beatles album that had an odd cover of strange looking babies on it. The public thought it was horrible so they only sold it for one day before they changed the cover, I forget what the appraiser called the cover now, but it was worth a lot of money just because it was so scarce. It was one I had never seen before. Great work here.

I had forgotten about so many of their songs. Like most kids growing up we had our favorites. A friend of mine had everything the Beatles ever did, she even had the White Album. When we were in England we got to see much of the Beatles tour things. We were trying to get to the cave, when we saw the Magical Mystery Tour Bus. What fun having the police show us around. Everyone was so great and kind to us.

Hi I blog often and I truly appreciate your content.

This great lens has truly peaked my interest.

Reading this will surely bring us back to the good

old days when three guitars and one drum is enough

to make great music.

Question : Were you one of the screaming teenagers

following the group around in San Francisco .

Linda BookLady profile image

Linda BookLady 2 years ago from Post Falls, Idaho, USA Hub Author

@FastSecrets: I tried screaming but it seemed kind of silly, so I soon gave up the idea... LOL.

I saw them when they played Red Rocks in Denver. I can remember that the tickets were the unheard of price of $6.60! Great lens by the way, they were truly the most influential band of the last 100 years for how they changed Rock and Roll and influence music even today.

The Beatles have been my favorite since I was a little girl. My father bought their first albums and I listened to them. As I grew up I started buying more, now we have lots of them, wish we had them all :)

TheGardenGuys 2 years ago

Wow, some of these brought back some memories. I was a second generation Beatles fan in the 1980s when I couldn't stop playing their music, and when I was learning guitar myself.

Beatles = Amazing. Thank you very much for this lens. This is cool.

Like my comic book collection as a kid, I was short sighted and gave away my Beatles records. Oh man, do I wish I had them today. Good lens.

What a great resource. So much information. My family watched Ed Sullivan every week, but I somehow missed that February 64 show. Every other kid in the neighbourhood saw it. I still have my original Hard Days Night and Beatles 65. Completely worn out thought. Thanks for a cool lens.

I don't know if I ever owned a Beatles album. HOWEVER, I owned a mixed cassette tape of Beatles songs that the older brother of a friend gave me. It was a well listened to tape.

I don't see anything with the album titled Love Song. Brown cover with gold embossing of their faces. I believe it was published by Capitol Records in 1977. Wanted to know if there is any value placed on it.

Thank you

I couldn't bear to part with my Beatles albums, even though I rarely listen to them any more because it's so much easier to put a CD on or listen to an MP3. Sometimes I just need to hear the vinyl, even with the scratches.

I didn't know much about the Beatles as a group. I began to take an interest maybe 15 or 20 years ago. Paul is my favorite. Maybe "favorite" isn't the right word. I guess the better word would be "familiar" because he's still around and rockin' it. His collaborations with Michael Jackson were outstanding and he continues to impress me to this day.

Thanks for sharing this.

I became a Beatlemaniac in the early 70's when I was 9 yr. old. I was OBSESSED and hoped to marry Paul one day! Little girls have BIG imaginations. I collected the records from thrift shops & even managed a damaged Meat Cover. It was interesting to see the values and revisit the playlists. It's different, listening on my iPod. I miss vinyl sometimes. Very nicely done article
